Charity and Events
At Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School, putting faith into action is at the heart of our Religious Education. Pupils are encouraged to live out Gospel values through acts of service, compassion and generosity, reflecting Christ’s love in practical ways.
Throughout the year, our children take part in a wide range of charitable and community-focused activities. During Harvest, Christmas, and Easter, we collect for the local food bank and create cards for local pensioners and parishioners who may be lonely, sharing kindness and joy. In September, we support the Macmillan Cancer Coffee Morning, while during Lent 2026, the whole school will join the Lenten Big Walk to help our brothers and sisters in Africa. We have also fundraised for the Garden of Hope project, creating prayer spaces for the whole school community to come together for religious events, with a central point for reflection and worship. In addition, we have supported local families through initiatives such as the Southport Rainbow Run.
As a community, we encourage our pupils to live as modern-day saints, responding to Pope Francis’ call to grow in holiness and act with love and service in everyday life. These experiences allow children to practise their faith, develop empathy, and see how they can make a positive difference in the world.

Recycle, Reuse, Renew: Mini Vinnies Project:
OLW Uniform Donations to the Netherton Park Community Centre for distribution to the families within the community.
What it is:
The Mini Vinnies have launched the Recycle, Reuse, Renew project to support families in our community. We collect pre-loved school uniforms, which are carefully washed, ironed, and donated back to those in need.
Who is it for:
If your child needs a school uniform, please contact the Netherton Park Community Centre, where uniforms are available to ensure every child has what they need for school.
Why we do it:
This project helps families, cares for our environment by reducing waste, and teaches our children the joy of helping others in a practical way.
Winter Uniform Donation: Summer 2025

The uniforms have now been delivered to the Netherton Neighbourhood Park Centre and are available in their community shop. Supporting CAFOD at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School
At Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School, we are proud to live out our mission of faith in action by supporting the work of CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development). Through prayer, fundraising, and community involvement, our pupils learn the importance of compassion, generosity, and global responsibility.
This year, our whole school community will be taking part in the Big Lent Walk 2026, joining thousands across the country to raise money and awareness for people living in poverty around the world. Families, staff, and pupils will come together to walk in solidarity with those who have to travel long distances for essentials like water, food, and education.
We also support CAFOD’s Family Fast Day, where pupils and families make small sacrifices—such as giving up a treat—and donate the money saved to help provide vital resources for communities in need.
In addition, our individual class projects give children the opportunity to take direct action. Each class chooses a specific CAFOD cause to support, raising funds to buy essential items such as clean water, farming tools, and emergency kits.
Through these acts of kindness and service, our pupils learn that even small actions can make a big difference. Together, we are helping to build a fairer, more hopeful world for everyone.
Year 4’s Lenten Coffee Morning for CAFOD

As part of their Lenten almsgiving, Year 4 created a thoughtful business plan to raise funds for a meaningful cause. They organised a coffee morning, selling homemade cakes and coffee to parents and carers, aiming to raise £10 to buy CAFOD’s “Gift of Reading,” which provides books and educational resources for those in need.
Thanks to the amazing support of families and the school community, over £25 was raised—more than double their goal! This will allow Year 4 to purchase multiple gifts and make an even greater impact.
Well done to Year 4 for your hard work and generosity.
