First Holy Communion at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School
Our Lady of Walsingham Roman Catholic Primary School is committed to supporting our children to deepen and develop their relationship with Christ. Together with our home, parish, and school community, the children work closely with our Parish Priest, Father Chris, and a dedicated team of catechists to prepare to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
This preparation takes place through monthly meetings held over the course of the academic year, during which the children explore the meaning and importance of the Eucharist and reflect on their sacramental journey. These sessions provide opportunities for prayer, reflection, and discussion, helping the children to grow in faith and to understand more deeply the presence of Christ in their lives.
Once the children have received their First Holy Communion, they return to school to share this special milestone with the wider community. Dressed in their First Holy Communion attire, they take part in a joyful Celebration of the Word, attended by the whole school and Governors, where they give thanks together for the gift of the Eucharist. This celebration marks not only a moment of personal faith but also the unity of our school, parish, and families in supporting each child’s continuing spiritual journey.
