Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School

Reception Spring 2024

Talk Through Stories

We have been reading Pirates Love Underpants in Literacy this half term. We found a treasure chest outside along with the sail from a ship! We discovered that it belonged to Pirate Pam!

The children created packing lists for Pirate Pam and we also discovered that she lost her pet Duck named Dan! We decided to create some paintings of Dan the Duck so that he could be found.

Another of our Talk Through Stories text for this term has been ‘George and the Dragon.’ The children loved this story and have been busy drawing and building their very own castles!

Maths

We have been exploring many mathematical concepts this term such as number bonds of 10, subitising to 10, exploring length and also continuing to consolidate our number sense within 10.

 Rock Kidz

We had so much fun dressing up as rock stars for our visit from Rock Kidz. They taught us some great songs about confidence and self esteem!

World Book Day

What a wonderful day we had celebrating World Book Day.  We had a great day listening to many traditional tales such as Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Police Visit

Merseyside Police came to visit us at school with one of their police cars. We were able to ask the police officers many questions and they talked to us about how they keep us and our local community safe.

Design Technology

As part of our topic 'A Long Time Ago,' we looked at many vehicles from the past and compared these to the present day. We then made our own vehicles from our junk modelling materials, they were fantastic!

Easter Bonnet Parade

We finished the wonderful term with our annual Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Egg Hunt. We were very lucky that the Easter Bunny left lots of chocolate around our school!
