Class Information

Reading Books

Children are asked to bring in their reading books/bags daily.  Reading record books will be signed and comments noted, where necessary. The children's books and levels will be changed after each assessment period. Understanding the text and developing comprehension skills are as important as decoding words. We ask that you support your child with their reading as much as possible at home. This is essential in enabling them to become fluent readers and in reinforcing the skills learnt.

Spellings

Children are taught spelling rules daily and a spelling quiz will be sent home every Friday, to be tested the following Friday. Each quiz will contain 6 spellings that will contain a specific rule and 6 common exception words. Children will also be given 2 mystery spellings that had previously been tested.

Homework

Children will be given weekly homework that will have a maths and SPAG/reading comprehension focus. This will be given on a Friday and needs to be returned by the following Friday.

Times Tables

Children should have instant recall of all multiplication facts up to 12x12 and their related division facts. Please ensure your child is using the ‘Times Tables Rock Star’ app to aid with progression.

Water

There is access to drinking water as required.  Children are encouraged to bring in their own reusable water bottle.

If you require any further information, please contact the school office.
